About

I spent many years in the Footwear Industry, designing shoes for major brands. The final 2 years of my last position were so stressful that my wife and I, Independent of one another researched buying the Peloton bike as a means of stress management as a gift to eachother. Our kids couldn’t keep the secret so we ended up buying the bike for each other for Christmas. I immediately noticed a change in my outlook and soon after that, my fitness level too.

One thing “WE,” realized was how much “I” sweat (think Patrick Ewing in the fourth quarter). I would work out, shower, and blast off for work; leaving my wife a disgusting situation on the bike for her workout. I always timed my workouts to just be able to drop off one of our two kids at school and still be on time for work. She was not super pleased. The designer in me got to work solving for this problem.

I used my rudimentary sewing skills to create what would become the FrameWrap. What do you know? It REALLY worked! My clean up time was reduced to seconds instead of minutes because none of my sweat actually made it onto the main part of the frame. My next thought was “there has to be a ton of Peloton owners with the same issue”. I reached out to some factories that I’ve developed maintained relationships with over the years and started making the FrameWrap under the brand name “Pelotowel”. How clever I thought. It was! I created a word that simultaneously used a cycling term and was closely related to the brand that I was making accessories to support -a little too closely. Enter the lawyers. Long story short. I rebranded to “Velotowel” Leveraging a French term for bicycle and voila! AND the domain Velotowel.com was available. Win, win.

I love the Peloton community. I really like indoor cycling and I love creating new products. So far under the brand umbrella, we’ve introduced The FrameWrap, AeroWrap (both made to fit the 1st generation Peloton Bike) and we introduced VeloMat (Bike and Bike+ compatible). When Peloton released the Bike+ in 2020, we created the FrameWrap+ with a USB-C passthrough and the AeroWrap+ to fit the redesigned shape of the Aero handlebar.

Velotowel has patent pending on brand new product called VeloSandal that we launched in late 2022. See details below and on our product page.

We really appreciate all the support that you’ve given our small business over the last year. We look forward to hopefully more success and just a bit more growth going forward.

We created sweat barrier specifically designed for the Peloton Spin bike. FrameWrap consists of 3 layers. The first layer deflects indirect sweat droplets and absorbs “direct hits”. The second layer is a semi-permeable foam that allows the top layer to breathe while simultaneously preventing liquid from reaching the frame down tube. The third layer sits directly against the frame. The soft Terry material protects the bike finish and provides additional protection from cleat scuffs while mounting/dismounting the bike.

AeroWrap and AeroWrap+ are more than a towel. They’re dual purpose powerhouses. 1. They protect the head tube’s exposed metal edge from the corrosive effects of your sweat. 2. Allows free hand movement to all five handlebar positions. 3. Super easy one handed operation. Go ahead, wipe that brow!

Lift, wipe and replace in a single motion.

VeloSandal I had forgotten my water bottle after I had already started my class (This was before the pause feature was added to Peloton On-Demand classes). Removing my shoes would have taken me too much time. I unclipped from the bike and FAST-WALKED into the kitchen. As soon as the plastic of my cycling shoe cleat hit the hardwood of the kitchen floor, I went down. HARD. I was happy that no one was around to see this comedy of errors. Class would have to wait! I needed to recover from would turn into a pretty good bruise on my hip. In the meantime, I searched the internet for something that I could easily step into while keeping my cycling shoes on that would prevent the calamity that had just occurred. I couldn’t believe that there was nothing out there on the market. It was in that moment that I started to think about designing and developing the VeloSandal.

VeloSandal is lightweight and simple to use. Just toe in, Step down and you’re in! Go ahead walk around, Answer the door, get that forgotten water bottle or towel. The VeloSandal is held on 3 friction points and your own body weight hold them in place with each step. When it’s time to resume your ride, simply step on the heel with your opposite foot and step out.

Step In, Step Down and Go!
